CRE 3 - Miscellaneous | LR - Clocks
Aakash observes the reflection of a wall clock in a mirror. The time observed by Aakash in the mirror is 5 hours 45 minutes. What is the actual time shown on the clock?
Answer: Option B
The time shown in the reflection of clock + Actual time = 12 hours
⇒ 4 : 45 + Actual time = 12 hours
⇒ Actual time = 12 - 4:45
⇒ Actual time = 8:15
Hence, option (b).
At 6:15, the minute hand points towards south. Where is the minute hand pointing when the time is 9 O'clock?
None of these
Answer: Option A
At 6:15 the minute hand points towards the number 3. Since number 3 is towards south it means that the clock is rotated 90° clockwise from its normal position.
At 9 O'clock, normally the hour hand points towards west (i.e., at 9). But in the rotated position it will face towards north.
Hence, option (a).
A clock is set to show the correct time at 6 a.m. The clock gains 10 minutes in a day. What will be the approximate time, when the watch indicates 2 p.m. the next day?
Answer: Option D
The faulty clock gains 10 minutes every 24 hours.
⇒ The faulty clock gains 5 minutes every 12 hours.
⇒ Faculty clock covers 725 minutes for every 720 minutes covered by actual clock
⇒ = =
From 6 a.m. till 2 p.m. next day, the faulty clock covers 20 hours
⇒ Actual time covered = = 31 hours 47 minutes.
∴ Actual time is 31 hours and 47 minutes after 6 am. i.e., 1:47 p.m.
Hence, option (d).
