Answer the next 5 questions based on the information given below.

Eight people – Aakash, Bijoy, Chetan, Dinesh, Eshaan, Falguni, Gautam and Hardik - are standing in a straight line at equal intervals. Some of them are facing north while the others are facing south.

Exactly four people are facing south.
Eshaan is standing third to the left of Aakash.
Falguni, who is standing next to only one person, is standing third to the right of Aakash.
Gautam is not an immediate neighbour of Aakash.
Chetan is standing next to 2 people facing north.
One of the immediate neighbours of Eshaan is Dinesh, who is facing north.
The immediate neighbours of Hardik are facing in opposite directions.
Bijoy is the only one standing between Chetan and Falguni.
Those who are standing at the corners face the same direction.

Explanation :

We will address each person by the first letter of their name.
From (1): Since four people are facing south, the other 4 will be facing north.

From (9): Those who are standing at the corners face the same direction.

∴ There are two cases:

Case 1: Those who are standing at the corners face noth.
From (3): Falguni is standing next to only one person. Hence, Falguni is at one of the corners corner.
From (3): Falguni is standing third to the right of Aakash.
From (2): Eshaan is standing third to the left of Aakash.

There are two possibilites

From (8): Bijoy is standing exactly between Chetan and Falguni.

From (5): Chetan is standing next to 2 people facing north. This is only possible in case 1 (a).

Now we have 4 people who are facing north i.e.e, A, B, F and the one standing on extreme left. Hence, the remaining four people face south.

From (6): One of the immediate neighbours of Eshaan is Dinesh, who is facing north. Hence, Dinesh will be the one standing on extreme left.
From (7): The immediate neighbours of Hardik are facing in opposite directions. Hence, Hardik is standing next to Aakash.
Hence, Gautam is standing between Eshaan and Hardik.

∴ The final arrangement is:

Case 2: Those who are standing at the corners face south.
From (3): Falguni is standing next to only one person. Hence, Falguni is at one of the corners corner.
From (3): Falguni is standing third to the right of Aakash.
From (2): Eshaan is standing third to the left of Aakash.

There are two possibilites

From (8): Bijoy is standing exactly between Chetan and Falguni.

From (5): Chetan is standing next to 2 people facing north. This is only possible in case 2 (a).
From (6): One of the immediate neighbours of Eshaan is Dinesh, who is facing north. Hence, Dinesh be standing third from the left end.

From (7): The immediate neighbours of Hardik are facing in opposite directions.

There is no possibility of Hardik standing such that both his neighbours face opposite directions.

Hence case 2 is rejected.

∴ The only correct arrangement is case 1 (a):

H is facing south and the person third to the left of H is B.

Hence, option (a).
